For your convenience, we've taken the "liberty" of noting a few of our area's most popular annual events.
Camp Classic Basketball Tournaments
With only 45 slots open for teams (27 boys, 18 girls) you better hurry and get a spot in the tourney reserved. Don't forget to reserve rooms, too! Tourneys are every Thursday, Friday, & Saturday starting June 30th and ending July 30th. All slots are first paid, first made. Team size limited to 12. This four-mile fun run begins at 8 a.m. on July 9th and follows a scenic (and sometimes hilly) course of paved roads. The race starts and ends near Molter and County Vista in Liberty Lake. A kids race follows at 9:30 a.m. around Liberty Lake Elementary School. Pre-registration of $15 with a shirt and $5 without for this 14th annual event must be turned in by June 25. Entry forms are available at local businesses and in the June 16 and 23 issues of The Splash. Race-day registration available at Liberty Lake Elementary School.
Fourth of July Liberty Lake Parade
Annual Independence Day festivities in Liberty Lake include a parade at Pavillion Park (727 N Molter Road) at 1 p.m., a concert at 6 p.m. and finally…fireworks at 10 p.m. Held July 4 at Pavilion Park in Liberty Lake.
Polar Bear Plunge at Lake Coeur D'Alene
This annual New Year's plunge takes place the first day the New Year, usually drawing approximately 500 daring divers to jump into the freezing waters of Lake Coeur D'Alene! Ask our front desk staff for details
Kicking off on June 25th, this super-fun three-on-three basketball tournament for players of all ages and skill levels is an amazing event for fans, parents, friends, family and players alike. Drawing players from all over the country, featuring more than 6,700 teams, 3,700 volunteers, 200,000 players and fans, and 428 courts spanning 40 downtown Spokane city blocks. Brackets will be posted on Wednesday, June 22nd.
Liberty Lake Farmers Market
The market's 11th anniversary season runs every Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from May 14 to Oct. 15. The market, located at 1421 N. Meadowwood Lane, averages around 1,600 visitors each Saturday. Opening on July 9th, this two-day tournament at Liberty Lake and MeadowWood golf courses is part of the Junior Golf Northwest Tour and is open to junior golfers of all abilities. Sold out since October, this sprint-distance triathlon for women features a 1/3-mile swim, 12-mile bike and 3-mile run in Liberty Lake. The race begins at 7:45 a.m.3rd Annual Spokane Triathlon
The Spokane Triathlon hosts both an international distance (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) and sprint distance (.75K swim, 20K bike, 5K run) races through beautiful Riverside State Park and Long Lake, with scenic views of the Spokane River.The athletes' spoke and we listened! The water was too cold in September, so we moved the race to July 31st.
